Marcus had to write a short fable illustrating a saying/proverb by Benjamin Franklin:
Guests and fish start to stink after three days.
He did this quickly and he is not going to edit and improve upon it. He is working on a couple of larger writing projects right now, and he'd rather focus on those. I think this is well done as something he did of the top of his head. I wish I could come of with things like this as easily as he does!
Robert’s Guest
Robert Bear once had his Hawaiian fox friend Sam over. On the first day of the visit, Rob loved listening to the sound of Sam strumming his ukulele and watching his fingers dance on the wooden fingerboard. On the second long day, Sam bursted through the door to marvel at the mysterious white powder floating down out of the sky. “Snow,” Robert called it. Sam rolled around in the snow making Marcus have to shovel his driveway again. On the third and most regrettable day, the fox violently pulled the indoor flowers out of their clay pots and unraveled Rob Bear’s best shirts. He poked a hole through the flowers and fed the string through the hole. “This is what they wear in Hawaii!” The fox screamed while doing the hoola on Robert’s bed. Fed up and done, Rob sent the obnoxious animal back to his den.
Moral: Guests and fish start to stink after three days.
